Art Courses & Painting Holidays

I run a course during the Autumn Term which is 8 weeks long, with a half-term break.
The classes run on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 9.30am to 1pm, and Monday afternoons from 2 - 5.30pm.

The dates for 2018 are to be confirmed.

The classes are for all abilities and for a maximum of 6 people in my studio.

During the term I will teach, guide and demonstrate by using a variety of mediums and techniques. I'll be taking you through from
the initial sketch, to the finished painting with observation being the key, and very much allowing each student to work at their
own pace. I will be covering the following techniques in a variety of subjects which we can then apply to a variety of finished paintings:
Sketching and Drawing
Perspective and proportion
Watercolour – its properties, techniques and colours
Mixing Media – including inks, charcoal, watercolour, graphite

I tutor and lead the trip for Art Safari Ltd to Zambia's stunning Luangwa Valley. Not only rich in wildlife where we are able to get up close to the game for sketching and painting, but also a place I am so deeply fond of, as it is where I used to live and work.

Within its backdrop of dramatic limestone mountains and flower meadows that so inspired the young Pablo Picasso, sits the beautiful Mas de la Serra Wilderness Retreat, part of the building itself a lovingly restored medieval tower. Situated South West of Barcelona on the edge of the coastal mountains, the area is known as Matarranya, or "Spanish Tuscany". With medieval villages to explore and Spanish Ibex roaming the Masia itself and the surronding cliffs, almond and olive groves, it is a painter's paradise.

Tour Dates: 6th - 13th June 2018

The unspoilt island of Zakynthos lies in the clear blue Adriatic Sea. The Villa Yerakina is situated high in the hills in the Northern part of the island of Zakynthos - the Venetian "Zante", or flower of the Levant. With it's panoramic views across to the neighbouring islands of Cephalonia and the Poloponnese, and surrounded by olive groves and cypress trees, Villa Yerekina is a haven of peace. Hidden coves, rocky headlands, mountain villages and monastries are a joy to explore, sketch and paint.

Tour Dates: 29th September - 6th October 2018

Almuna has been home to the Arbuthnott family for 30 years, situated on a farm in the hills in heart of Andalucia. Only the sound of sheep bells and nightingales disturb the peace. From the terrace, its stunning far reaching views stretch across to the Rock of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea to the South. This area of the Iberian Peninsular is deeply rural with beautiful "pueblo blanco" - white villages, scattered across the hills, and the well known town of Ronda within an hour further North. With the charming white villages and their crooked narrow streets, the famous bridge at Ronda, rustic farms, and superb landscapes of receding hills, painting opportunities from Almuna are magical.

Tour dates: 8th - 15th October 2018
